β€œAnother Great Week” Newsletter from Principal Ferguson

Dear Lancer Families,

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebrating with family and friends.  MOST of the kids came back from Spring Break rested and ready to tackle the final weeks of the school year!  We are in the final stretch with only 34 more days left in the school year.

We’ve been reaching out to families about enrollment for next year.  A handful of families have not fully completed and β€œsubmitted” all the steps in the FACTs enrollment packet for next year, which prevents the system from advancing a student to the next year.  If this is the case for your family, please take a few minutes this weekend to complete all the necessary steps through FACTs Family Portal.  If you do not plan to enroll for next year, please contact me at your earliest convenience.  As we plan class sizes and class lists for next school year, we want to make sure we have every child accounted for in our rosters.

Solar Eclipse - As we previously stated, on Monday, April 8th, the Wheaton area will be experiencing the Solar Eclipse.  Thank you to all those who have submitted the required viewing waiver for your kids.  If you haven’t done so already, please send this signed form back to the Main Office if you’d like your child to participate in the viewing with their class.  The Solar Eclipse glasses will be provided to students in 2nd through 8th Grades.

Upcoming Events - We also have many other special events happening next week.

  • Daddy Daughter Dance - Saturday, April 6th is the Annual Daddy Daughter Dance from 6:00-8:00 in Cashin Gym.  The theme this year is St. Mike’s ERA.  Dress in your favorite ERA to celebrate the night!

  • 4th Grade State Day - Our 4th Graders have been preparing for the Annual State Day which will take place on Thursday, April 11th.  The students have been researching and becoming experts on their State.  We can’t wait for them to share all the knowledge they’ve learned over the past few months.

  • Pep Rally - Friday, April 12th, we will be having our Spring Pep Rally in the Gym.  All our winter and spring Sports, Clubs, and Academic Teams will be celebrated.  Students will also participate in some fun competitive games and activities.

  • Spring Dance - Later Friday evening, we will host the Spring Dance for all Jr. High Students in Cashin Gym.  The dance will be from 7:00-9:00pm.  The theme this year is Famous People or Characters.  If your child hasn’t turned in their permission form and money, please turn that in to the Main Office ASAP.

Queen Of Hearts Update - The Queen lives on for another week!  There was no winner at this week's drawing.  The Jackpot is up to $42,715.  Buy your tickets in the Main Office, at 302 Wheaton, or in the carline next Thursday.  Our goal is to get up to $50,000 but next week…ONLY 5 CARDS LEFT!!!

Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!

  • Dear Parents,

As we near the Feast of the Annunciation, when it was announced to our Mother, Mary, that she would bear the Christ child, the St. Michael School Lancers for Life Club and the St. Michael Parish Respect Life Committee wanted to provide you and your family an opportunity to participate in a spiritual adoption prayer campaign along with the parish community. This program is a simple, yet effective pro-life activity that involves components of prayer, education, and outreach. The first step involves pledging to pray for the protection of a baby in the womb starting on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25th. We encourage you to give a name to the unborn baby you are praying for as a simple reminder that you are asking God to protect the life and health of a specific baby in his/her mother’s womb whose life and health may be in danger.

Click HERE for the prayer/pledge card written by the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Please cut out the prayer card for you to keep and use to pray daily for the baby you have β€œadopted.” Additionally, cut out the pledge heart and send it back to school office as a pledge that you will pray daily for the next nine months. Your pledge hearts will be posted in the school as a sign that you and your family are praying for these innocent unborn babies.

We are also attaching a milestone chart with cool facts of the development of the baby inside the mother’s womb like when the baby’s heart starts beating, when a baby starts sucking his/her thumb, when the mother will start to feel the baby kicking, and other fun facts about his/her growth. As you are praying for this baby over the next nine months, these facts can help you be aware of the baby’s growth and development.

Please prayerfully consider participating in this simple program and add your prayers to thousands of others. Just like we pray for people who are walking among us, we want to pray for and be aware of babies growing in their mothers’ wombs, who are worthy of our love and compassion. Help the Lancers for Life and the Respect Life Committee make sure these babies are prayed for and not forgotten.

    In Christ, Lancers for Life
