βAnother Great Weekβ Newsletter from Principal Ferguson
Dear Lancer Families,
Today was full of planned (and unplanned) excitement!! We had our Annual Spring Pep Rally. Students in all grades participated in a variety of games and activities. The Student Council did a fabulous job, as always, hosting the event. In the highly anticipated βHumanβ Foosball Game between staff and 8th gradersβ¦Mr. Farmer dominated the staff team's offense with 2 goalsβ¦sealing a victory for the staff!!
Lunch - The βunplannedβ excitement came when our dedicated FFF volunteers showed up to serve Jimmy Johnβs and no food was here for studentsβ¦Jimmy Johnβs mistake! The volunteers, along with Mrs. Angelone, rallied and placed a large, last minute pizza order from Jetβs Pizza!! Big shout out to Jetβs for making 40 pizzas in 25 minutes for us to enjoy. Rest assured that your children did eat lunch and all were fed!
Finding Nemo - Next week, our 8th graders will finally have their chance to perform Finding Nemo for all our students and guests. Theyβve been practicing since January and the big show is finally here! We wish them all the best of luck in the performances. Show times are 12:30 pm and 7:00 pm on both Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19. Tickets are still being sold, while they last! All guests must have a ticket to enterβ¦no standing room available. Check HERE for ticket availability.
State Day - On Thursday, our 4th graders saw all their hard work and research come alive during the Annual State Day Program. All year, the students have been researching and learning about their State. The culmination of this tremendous effort was their live expo where our student body, parents, and grandparents were able to come hear our 4th graders present about their State. 4th Graders dressed as a famous person, told facts, and answered questions. Also, they were able to combine their research with their musical talents, as they learned a variety of patriotic songs which they performed. Special thanks to Mrs. Green and Mr. Farmer for continuing this tradition for our studentsβ¦and thanks to Mrs. Petrando for the musical supplement to this famed event. Great job 4th graders!!
FACTS Text Messages Update - Starting April 22, text messages sent via FACTS Parent Alert will have a new short code. Please save this number (317065) in your contacts under (FACTs SMPS) so it does not display as an unknown sender. St. Michaelβs has not used this feature yet, but may possibly in the future. If you previously opted out of receiving Parent Alert text messages, you will need to re-opt out by texting STOP to any messages.
Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!

St. Michaelβs Volleyball Registration and Evaluation Information
Thank you for considering signing your child up for the
2024 Volleyball Season. Volleyball is a popular sport in our area and offered to all incoming 5th through 8th graders at St. Michaelβs.
Players and Teams
There is a place for every single student at St.Michaelβs who wishes to participate in volleyball regardless of experience or skill level. There are βA teamsβ and βB teamsβ at most age and gender levels and based on the number of players who register. Teams compete against others with comparable skill levels. Through the evaluation process, outside evaluators and in some cases, the coaching staff from the previous year, will determine which team best suits your daughter or son.
For the 2024 Volleyball Season, tryouts will be held at the Cashin Gym.
PLEASE REMEMBER. THIS IS YOUR ATHLETEβS GRADE FOR THE 2024/2025 SCHOOL YEAR!

Season Length
Generally, the fall volleyball season starts with practices and runs from the first or second week of August through Championship weekend in late October.
Practices
Practices start the first or second week of August. They are held in the Cashin Gym, in the evening during the week, last one hour, and typically occur two times per week. The practice schedule is based on your coachβs preference and availability and will be sent out over the summer.
Matches
Between practice games, tournaments, league play and playoffs, there are approximately 15 matches held throughout the season from about the third weekend of August through Championship weekend in late October. Matches are typically on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There will be both home games and away games. Away games are mostly in the surrounding area with a small number that require a further drive of 30-45 minutes.
Coaches
Teams are coached by volunteer parents. There is always a need for head coaches and assistant coaches. Through the registration process, you will be asked to let us know if you are interested. Please consider this enriching opportunity! Coaches will be selected after teams are created.
Cost
Access to the Cashin Gym covers a large percentage of costs associated with participating in volleyball, but there are league fees, tournament allowances, uniform expenses, and referee expenses to cover. The cost per athlete is $165. There are discounts for multiple athletes within the same family, capping a familyβs yearly expenses for volleyball at $265.
Registration
When registering your child, please register them for the grade that they will be in for the 2024/2025 school year.
St. Michaelβs Athletics uses an online registration process.
Please sign up for the TeamSnap App. St. Michael Athletics will be using this App for registration, team organization, team communication, and scheduling throughout your childβs Lancer Athletic experience. Here is the linkβ¦ Team Snap Home

Dear Parents,
As we near the Feast of the Annunciation, when it was announced to our Mother, Mary, that she would bear the Christ child, the St. Michael School Lancers for Life Club and the St. Michael Parish Respect Life Committee wanted to provide you and your family an opportunity to participate in a spiritual adoption prayer campaign along with the parish community. This program is a simple, yet effective pro-life activity that involves components of prayer, education, and outreach. The first step involves pledging to pray for the protection of a baby in the womb starting on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25th. We encourage you to give a name to the unborn baby you are praying for as a simple reminder that you are asking God to protect the life and health of a specific baby in his/her motherβs womb whose life and health may be in danger.
Click HERE for the prayer/pledge card written by the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Please cut out the prayer card for you to keep and use to pray daily for the baby you have βadopted.β Additionally, cut out the pledge heart and send it back to school office as a pledge that you will pray daily for the next nine months. Your pledge hearts will be posted in the school as a sign that you and your family are praying for these innocent unborn babies.
We are also attaching a milestone chart with cool facts of the development of the baby inside the motherβs womb like when the babyβs heart starts beating, when a baby starts sucking his/her thumb, when the mother will start to feel the baby kicking, and other fun facts about his/her growth. As you are praying for this baby over the next nine months, these facts can help you be aware of the babyβs growth and development.
Please prayerfully consider participating in this simple program and add your prayers to thousands of others. Just like we pray for people who are walking among us, we want to pray for and be aware of babies growing in their mothersβ wombs, who are worthy of our love and compassion. Help the Lancers for Life and the Respect Life Committee make sure these babies are prayed for and not forgotten.
In Christ, Lancers for Life
