“Another Great Week” Newsletter from Principal Ferguson

Dear Lancer Families,

This week at the All School Mass, Fr. Tony preached to the students about the importance of listening and following their Guardian Angels, very fitting as we just celebrated the Feast of the Guardian Angels.  He shared that we all have a Guardian Angel sent to guide and protect us.  We also will be confronted by the Angel Satan who will tempt us to make bad choices.  We have to decide which Angel we will listen to and which way we will choose to live our lives.

“Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him.” (Exodus 23:20-21)

Safety Drills - This week, we once again practiced 2 surprise safety drills with our students and staff.  The Wheaton FD and PD were onsite to monitor these drills.  Our students and staff received high marks for their execution of the Fire Drill and the ALICE Drill.  We stress the importance of taking these drills seriously and appreciate everyone’s cooperation this week.

8th Grade Volleyball Night - Join us TONIGHT (October 4th) to celebrate our 8th graders as they play their final home volleyball games in Cashin Gym! Let's show our support and make it a memorable night for these talented athletes.  4 games starting at 5:30pm.  Come out to cheer for our 8th graders and enjoy a night filled with volleyball, fun, food, and school spirit! Bring your friends and family to honor our players and make some noise!

Upcoming NO SCHOOL Days - Just a reminder that next week is a short one.  We will have NO SCHOOL October 10th (P/T Conferences), 11th (Teacher Inservice Day) and 14th (Columbus Day).  Please mark your calendars.

Lost and Found - Our Lost and Found table is growing each and every day.  Please make sure that all lunch bags/boxes, water bottles, coats, clothes, pencil cases, etc have your child’s name written on them.  We have many quality items that go unclaimed and end up getting donated throughout the year because they are never claimed.  All the items will be out on the table outside the Main Office during P/T Conferences.  Please take a look for any items your child may have misplaced.

Lastly, a shout-out to our Lancers for Life students who chalked life-affirming, hopeful messages all around campus! We are so grateful for the hopeful, positive reminders. What a gift to be surrounded by God’s love through your words and artistry!

Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!!!

    Hello

On behalf of the family and community of friends of Frank Cycenas, we are raising funds in support of his two children, Dan and Elinor, both of whom are graduates of St. Michael Parish School.

The Cycenases are members of St. Michael Parish, and Frank worked for 11 years as the Athletic Director of St. Michael School with his lovely wife, Linda. Frank and Linda were always at school welcoming people into the gym, managing practices and games, and overseeing all things athletic. They could be counted on to go the extra mile whenever needed and were friendly to everyone in the community. Sadly, Linda entered into eternal life 5 years ago leaving Frank, Dan and Elinor to manage without her.

Unfortunately, Frank has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been battling the disease for several months. We hope to raise funds to help Frank and his kids pay his mounting medical bills. This is more than a fundraiser; it’s a community effort to support one of our own families in their time of need.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and welcomed as his family navigates this difficult time.
