“Another Great Week” Newsletter from Principal Ferguson
Dear Lancer Families,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break with family and friends. We were welcomed back to school with some bitter cold temps this week. As a reminder, we will go outside for recess each day as long as the “feels like” temps are 10 degrees or higher. Please make sure that your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the cold temps…winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves. Girls are welcome to wear black or navy blue leggings under their skirts and jumpers. If they want to wear sweatpants at recess that is fine as well.
LOST & FOUND - Please encourage your children to stop by the Lost and Found table (outside the Main Office). We have MANY lost items…hats, gloves, jackets, coats, sweatshirts, gym bags, water bottles and lunch boxes. No joke there are 100’s if not 1000’s of dollars worth of items on the table. If there is a name, Mr. Cashin usually finds the owner, so PLEASE put names on your items so they can be returned. Over the Christmas Break, any items left over will be donated.
New LED Lights - Finally, over the Thanksgiving Break, all the Parish spaces and school spaces received new LED lights. Although some rooms still need the new lights, there is a much brighter and cleaner look to the hallways and classrooms. The first few days were a shock for the students…and staff…but now everyone seems to have settled in and adjusted to the new lighting.
Upcoming Holiday activities:
Saturday, December 7th - Donuts with Santa - (9:00am-11:00am) - Tomorrow the SMPO will be hosting Donuts with Santa in the Parish Center. We hope to see all of you for donuts and crafts! Thank you to all our volunteers for their efforts in making this year's event fun and exciting for the kids!

Like we’ve encouraged you for years before testing…get a good night’s rest, eat a nourishing breakfast, and use all your knowledge, skills, and strategies to do your best. You have worked hard, you are prepared, and YOU’VE GOT THIS!
Make it a GREAT break, Lancers!!!

Ho! Ho! Ho!
Santa’s Secret Shop is returning to St. Mikes!
Children in kindergarten - 5th grade are invited to participate in the upcoming “Santa’s Secret Shop” on Friday, December 13th during the school day. There will be a large variety of gifts in different price ranges to choose from. Parent volunteers will help the children pick that perfect gift for the price they want. Imagine the fun the kids will have surprising a loved one with a “secret” gift they bought all by themselves! Please keep in mind when making your list of who to shop for that each class will have 20 minutes to shop, purchase, and have their gifts wrapped.
A “money control” envelope will be sent home so you can help them decide who they should buy gifts for and how much they should spend. You can even suggest ways that your child can earn extra money.
A credit card option in addition to cash or check! You may go onto the website www.funhgs.com or scan the QR code and pay ahead. Any balance will be returned in cash, not locked into an account for future use. If you choose this option, please put the amount prepaid on the envelope so the child knows their budget, and be mindful the purchased amount does not include their service fee.
This event creates wonderful memories for the children while teaching them to budget their money and make their own decisions. Any questions? Contact one of the committee elves.
Thank you!

"The following Mathnasium Learning centers have a special offer for your families: Mathnasium of Aurora East, Mathnasium of Carol Stream, Mathnasium of Glen Ellyn, and Mathnasium of St. Charles.
The Gift of Math packages are special seasonal end-of-year options built around 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-, or 24-month periods and offer perks for the Mathnasium of Glen Ellyn students and lower membership rates for the parents/guardians.
Last year, we saw a few families choose to use Gift of Math packages, and their students have achieved awesome rates of skill mastery. We also saw families choose to get Gift of Math packages to give to friends or family members!
We at Mathnasium love this program because we think it matches our goals well — students who work consistently make incremental gains so that they can catch up, keep up, or get ahead.
If you have questions, or are interested in getting your own Gift of Math membership, please call/email with the information provided below."

Music, Prayer, Speakers, Mass with over 1,000 Catholic teens!
The Diocese expects this event will likely sell out in 15 minutes on November 20th when registration opens nationwide!
St. Michael is asking for families to indicate interest by Friday, November 15th, and they can do so by using this link. They don't have to register, but we need some kind of idea of how many spots to reserve. We will estimate a few more spots than those who respond, knowing that more will likely sign up in the spring, but we need to have some kind of idea because of the event's popularity.

Returning to Catholic Heart Workcamp mission trip from June 15-20, 2025 in Montague, MI.
Last year, we took 21 teens with us to Louisville, and they received 30 service hours & a unique Catholic experience while meeting other faithful teens from across the US. Next summer could be the year when your teen joins us too!
