“Another Great Week” Newsletter from Principal Ferguson

Dear Lancer Families,

Welcome back to St. Michael Parish School! We had an AMAZING first week of school!!  All the smiling faces brought such joy back to our building.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures - Our morning drop-off and end of the day pick-up procedures are running very smoothly.  One reminder, please make sure that your child exits the car on the passenger side (curbside) of the car.  It is unsafe to exit on the driver-side of the parking lot and walk around the cars.  Also, we ask that you please make sure your child knows how they are going home each day.  If a change to transportation needs to be made, please do so by 1:30pm…after this time, it is difficult for us to get the messages to students in time.

Fun Food Friday (FFF) -  Our first Fun Food Friday (FFF) will begin on Friday 8/30 with Culver’s.  Click here to view the FFF Schedule for the year. Refer to the calendar on FACTS for FFF any time during the year.

Friday Night Spikes - Tonight is our first Friday Night Spikes in Cashin Gym.  All 4 of our 8th grade Boys and Girls Volleyball teams will be playing tonight at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30pm.  There will be pizza and snacks available for purchase in the Snack Shack.  Help us cheer on our athletes and pack Cashin Gym!!

Spirit Day Fridays and Out of Uniform TIckets - Every Friday is Spirit Day.  Students may wear their uniform bottoms with a SMPS Spirit shirt/sweatshirt.  Check out the SMPO Spirit Wear online store in the coming weeks.  Also, students may purchase an Out of Uniform Coupon Book and use an out of uniform pass on Fridays.  The coupon books are $20 for 5 tickets…purchase as many as you’d like from the Main Office!

Curriculum Nights - Please join us for Curriculum Nights next week:

  • Grades 6-8: Wednesday, August 28 from 6:15-8:00pm.  Grades 6-8 will be receiving a schedule in a separate email that will walk you through all classes to meet the teachers and to hear about the year.

  • Grades 1-5: Thursday, August 29 from 6:30-8:00pm.  Grades 1-5 will start in the gym at 6:30 and then proceed to your child’s homeroom for a presentation.  The teachers will provide two presentations to accommodate families with children in multiple grade levels.

Welcome Back Ice Cream Social - Finally, this Saturday, August 24th our SMPO is hosting the Annual Welcome Back Ice Cream Social immediately following the 5:00pm Mass.  Come help us ring in the new school year with ice cream, games, burgers, and fellowship with other SMPS Families.

Make it a GREAT day, Lancers!!!
