“Another Great Week” Newsletter from Principal Ferguson
Dear Lancer Families,
Today we celebrated all of our students who participated in a Fall sport or club. Our student council did a fantastic job organizing and executing today's Fall Pep Rally! Great job Student Council!! The students filled Cashin Gym with energy and excitement.
At the end of the Pep Rally, a handful of students had the opportunity to throw a pie in my face or dump a cup of slime all over me. I’ll be cleaning out my nose and ears for days, but it was 100% worth it to recognize all the top fundraisers in this year's Lancer Dash! Collectively, our students raised over $110,000 for our school…Way to Go, Lancers!!
Next Tuesday is Halloween!!! We once again have a special treat planned for the carline this year! K-2 students can wear a costume to school and walk in our costume parade at 8:00am (an email with more details was sent to the K-2 families earlier today). All students in grades 3-8 are welcome to wear a Black, Orange, or Halloween shirt/sweatshirt with their school uniform bottoms.
There’s still time to register a Team for Trivia Night. This is a great night of fun and fellowship with other SMPS parents…current and alumni! If you’d like to register a Team, please contact Jim Wolf ASAP!

Did you know that plastic bread tags cannot be recycled traditionally in our recycling bins? The 7th grade class will again be partnering with SCARCE for this recycling project. SCARCE works with an organization out of Indiana called Danielle Cares for Chairs (click for full .pdf) that recycles bread tags to raise funds for providing wheelchairs and other forms of mobility equipment for those in need. Starting now, please save your bread tags and send them to school with your child. Each homeroom has a collection container in their room. This collection will run through the end of the school year and continue into next school year. Thank you for supporting this awesome cause!
