Dear St. Michael Parish School Family,
On Thursday, September 21st, our students (preK3-8th grade) will participate in the LANCER DASH (a.k.a., a fun run!). On this exciting day, SMPS students will take our parking lot by storm, having fun with their friends as they run laps to celebrate the donations they have solicited from their friends and family. Some will walk it, some will run it but ALL will enjoy the electric energy at the LANCER DASH!
The LANCER DASH is St. Michael Parent Organization’s largest fundraiser! Each year, our principal, Mr.Ferguson, along with Father Dan and the SMPO, work together to set a fundraising goal in order to make a large and much needed purchase for our school. In the past, we’ve fundraised for water fountains, smart boards and drama equipment. This year, we are fundraising for new science tables to go in our science lab on the newly renovated third floor! These science tables are built to last so we need to raise $45,000 to meet our goal! Will you help us?
There are AMAZING rewards for each level of giving. Candy bars, out of uniform tickets, donuts with Father Dan and a limo ride to Chik-Fil-A are just a handful of the prizes we are offering!
Please join us in raising the money we need to support our school. On Thursday, September 21st, all friends and family are welcome to join in and cheer our students (preK-8th) on as they dash around our parking lot! Students will be running with their classes and a detailed running schedule will be sent out closer to the date, so mark your calendars!
Don’t forget, rewards are cumulative and we have some awesome prizes this year! Thank you, thank you! We couldn’t make our school great with out you!
All donations will be processed thru the PledgeStar Link. This link will go live on Monday, August 28th so students, start hyping the LANCER DASH up to your friends and family! Donations can be made starting Monday, August 28th thru September 21st. Also, be on the lookout for video of a mad scientist, promoting our LANCER DASH! He needs your help!

Did you know that plastic bread tags cannot be recycled traditionally in our recycling bins? The 7th grade class will again be partnering with SCARCE for this recycling project. SCARCE works with an organization out of Indiana called Danielle Cares for Chairs (click for full .pdf) that recycles bread tags to raise funds for providing wheelchairs and other forms of mobility equipment for those in need. Starting now, please save your bread tags and send them to school with your child. Each homeroom has a collection container in their room. This collection will run through the end of the school year and continue into next school year. Thank you for supporting this awesome cause!

I am writing to invite your incoming 8th-grade students to take part in a test prep course for the Catholic high school entrance exam (the "HSPT").
This will be an IN-PERSON class at the Westchester Library.
WHY TAKE THE CLASS?:
Our students have seen great success on their exams over the last few years by not only earning acceptance into the schools of their choice (including Fenwick, St. Ignatius, Benet, Nazareth Academy, Loyola, Montini, and Marmion) but also scholarship money and awards. These lessons are also beneficial for overall basic skills and enrichment for the school year.
WHO WE ARE:
Megan Kucia is a high school English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience, five of them being in middle school, and Mrs. Amoroso is a middle school math teacher with over 25 years of experience. Mrs. Amoroso and I began this test prep class nine years ago while teaching middle school together at St. Francis in La Grange, and we have had the opportunity to work with students from many area schools, such as St. John of the Cross, St. Francis Xavier, St. Cletus, Our Lady of Peace, St. Joe, St. John's Lutheran LG, Divine Providence, St. Vincent Ferrer, McClure Jr. High, St. Isaac Jogues, and more.
I have attached the registration form (which includes the link to register). Please feel free to distribute it at your discretion, and let me know if you have any questions! Thank you for your time.
